BMC Students Jump Cultural Barriers at Sports Camps

During their summer in Toronto, Canada, BMC students Coty Cook and Katy James interacted with people from Pakistan, Greece, China, and the Philippines. Toronto is home to many refugees from war-torn countries around the world. This incredibly diverse mission field is in need of committed missionaries with a deep sensitivity towards other cultures.

Cook and James spent 52 days supervising sports camps for Upward Sports, Monday through Friday of each week. At night, they left camp and went into the cit...

BMC Students Fellowship at Weekend Retreat

By the end of October, stress levels at BMC begin rising to new heights. Students start to feel overwhelmed by the mountains of tests, papers and projects to finish before finals week. Many students vanish within the depths of the library or their dorm rooms, hunched over computer screens or heavily highlighted textbooks. Nap activity among students increases exponentially.

For years the BSU has provided an opportunity to relieve stress for overwhelmed students—Fall Retreat, a short trip to get away from camp...

BMC Student Teaches English to Senegalese Muslims

In the small North African nation of Senegal, approximately 95% of the population are Muslims. The half-formed, dusty capital city of Dakar is well-known for its mosques, which preside as the centers of society. Christian influence in Senegal is next to none and the need for long-term missionaries is dire. Senegal’s Islamic culture makes it an incredibly difficult field for missionaries today.

A BMC senior named Hailey traveled to Dakar last summer to work as an English teacher in one of the city’s lea...

Lives Changed during BMC Campus Revival

Students and faculty gathered in the MLB auditorium on Monday morning, October 9th, with a sense of anticipation and special attention. This chapel was to be the first devoted to the campus revival everyone had heard and prayed so much about during the past few weeks. The podium was nowhere to be found—the first sign chapel would be a little different.

Phil Waldrep, a Southern Baptist pastor and evangelist based in Decatur, Alabama, spoke from the stage rather than behind the podium and broke protocol by not wea...

BMC Student Teaches to Give Children a Better Life

In the farming villages of Cambodia most children own two ragged pairs of clothing—one to wear and one to hand wash in a bowl. Their need is desperate and in many cases they have no access to running water, education, or the Gospel. For Cambodian children, learning English is their chance to escape poverty because many higher paying jobs in Cambodia require fluency in English.

Senior Mikki Stephenson spent this past summer making a difference for Cambodian kids in Kampong Thom, Cambodia, as their Eng...

On the clear afternoon of March 9th, the BMC baseball team, coaches, and other Blue Mountain College supporters gathered around home plate of the brand new baseball field. BMC president, Dr. Barbara McMillan, spoke of what a special moment the opening of the new field will be for the school.

“We’ve been trying to get home for about five—six—years now. And we are home,” Dr. McMillan said. “We will have a huge ceremony on the formal opening day when we will invite the community, family, and friends to a big celebration.”

    Dr. McMillan announced April 2...

As Christians, we know how important it is to reach out to those who are lost, but what about those who might be be forgotten?

“The ministry to those in the nursing home is so vital. Many need encouragement and just a touch to say that they are cared about and are not forgotten,” BSU director Tracy Moser said.

The BSU at Blue Mountain College is sending students on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. to visit the residents at the Golden Living Center nursing home in Ripley, MS.

Many people at the center are ill or in temporary rehab while recovering from injuries....
