BMC Girls Rock Beauty Pageant

On the night of September 21, Blue Mountain College held its annual beauty pageant in Modena Lowery Auditorium.

The night started off with a chuckle as Emcee Justin Dozier began reading on the wrong page of his notes. Everything was righted quickly, however, when Miss Blue Mountain 2016, Angelica Rhodes, sorted out Justin and his notes. During intermission, students were further entertained by the Gospel Choir, who performed flawlessly.

Each of the ladies who participated in the event were poised and elegant, looking spectacular in their glittering gowns. While all of them may deserve a crown, only a few can place.

Pageant Winners

Abbey Dominey won third alternate, Haley Matkins placed second alternate, and Casey Hollingsworth was first alternate. The title of Miss Missions goes to the girl who collects the most donations every year. This year, Victoria Anthony won the title with $690 in donations. The overall total of money collected for missions was $1,943.

In order to highlight the missions that the money was raised for, a video was played showing pictures of each of the summer missionaries of 2017. Missionaries will be sent all over the globe to spread God’s word.

Finally, the first place winner of the pageant was Rani Higgins, a freshman this year at Blue Mountain College. For her onstage question, Rani was asked who her favorite woman from the bible was. She replied, “Ruth. I’m just a sucker for a good romance.”
