Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and couples everywhere are gearing up for their exciting date night. Some people have been planning this day for weeks, eager to score the perfect reservation to their date’s favorite restaurant, snag those coveted movie tickets, and plan that day down to the letter.
And then there are the people who forgot.
Don’t worry; everyone has messed up and forgotten about Valentine’s Day. There are plenty of other date ideas that require very little planning but are also very thoughtful.
For those of you who have money and transportation, there’s a few options.
Take your date to the local fast food place. Chick-Fil-A is always a people-pleaser, and their food is guaranteed to be worth the wait.
Make dinner together. Add candles for romantic effect. Disclaimer: does not work if the only thing you have in your room is ramen noodles. You may just have to splurge a little and make a run to the local grocery store.
Then, there are dates that don’t require money, but definitely require nice weather.
Pack a picnic. It’s super romantic and tranquil.
Walk down the Blue Mountain College walking trail. Play “I Spy” as you walk.
Find two trees and set up a hammock. Spend the hours talking or just enjoy some quiet time together. Just make sure you leave enough room for Jesus, okay?
However, if there’s no way to get around, and the weather is being not so nice, there are plenty of other choices.
Put together a picture slideshow and wrap up in blankets to watch.
Netflix movie date! Each person picks their favorite movie. Popcorn optional.
Make playlists for each other. It’s the modern equivalent to mixtapes, and those were wildly popular back in their day.
Write love letters and exchange them. Bonus points if you shove petals into the envelope or tape a flower to the outside.
Look up love poems that remind you of one another. Nothing says “I put thought into our date” like a poem.
So, don’t worry too much if you forgot about Valentine’s Day. You’re not the first, and you won’t be the last. It’s not like there’s nothing that can be done once you realize you’re too late. If this article proves anything, it proves that there are plenty of options open to the people who really do care, but they’re forgetful. But that’s okay! You’re a college student. You probably have a Dr. Meeks test to study for! Just make sure you do better next year, all right?
