Blue Mountain Christian University’s summer missionaries had a lot to share pertaining to their trips. BMCU offers missions throughout the year, during spring, summer, and winter breaks through its Baptist Student Union. This summer, BMCU sent out six individuals, four of which served in the United States and two overseas in separate countries, for their summer missions. Ultimately, the glory pertaining to the missions goes right back to God.
Alexis Alford served as a missionary this summer in Houston, Texas in the United States. When asked about her favorite mission field memory, she said that it was “connecting with these two younger kids during an outreach event.” They did not know the same language, but they knew Jesus, and that was what mattered most to her. She wanted to share that “God wants to use you” in any situation, and urges the people she knows to find what their purpose in that would be. She was bold in sharing that she had a wonderful time in Houston.
Jenna Landers served as a missionary this summer at Songhkla, Thailand. Jenna came back from her mission to share that “there are abundant opportunities to share the gospel right under our noses and [that there are] so many lost people desiring deep in their hearts to know Christ as Lord.” She recommends missions with the BSU because “[they grow] you immensely in your walk with God.”
Another summer missionary, Logan Sweet, served in South Asia. He says that he learned “building relationships is key to true evangelism.” When asked about a memory that he is fond of, Logan shared that somebody came to know Christ during his mission. He added that “it was such an amazing joy to end my summer like that,” and that it “was a reminder that… my labor was worth it.” A fun aspect from Logan’s mission is some language that he learned. He shared that “Jai ma sicky” in Hindi means “Praise the Lord” in English.
BMCU’s BSU is hosting two missions during winter break this year in Arlington, Texas and the Mississippi Delta. The trip to Arlington will cost $175 and the trip to the Delta will cost $125. If you feel led to serve on one of these missions, you are able to contact Tracy Moser or Tyler Golden for more information. Applications for the winter break missions close on October 3. You can also visit the BSU website at https://www.bluemountainbsu.org/ to seek out more information on your own. Who knows, maybe your story can lead somebody to salvation.
