Students Making Disciples of All Nations

Students at Blue Mountain Christian University, formerly known as Blue Mountain College, are getting ready to spread the Gospel through missions. There is currently a mission trip scheduled during spring break where students will be heading to Phoenix, Arizona.

Tracy Moser is in charge of all things Missions related on Campus. She stated that this is a great opportunity for students to step out of their comfort zone and grow in their faith. She said that 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 is a verse that inspires her. It reads “For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore, all have died; and he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died and was raised” (NLT). She said that this verse shows us what Christ did for us and what we can do in return. Missions are all about helping others and spreading the Gospel in the process, and this is especially important in Phoenix. Moser explained that 87% of people in Phoenix do not have a relationship with Jesus. There is a huge need for missionaries in that area.

Tyler Meeks, who went on the Mission Arlington trip last year, gave a few reasons as to why missions were important. He states missions are important for the Christian faith as it is a command given by Jesus to share the Gospel and to meet the needs of the hurting and the broken. Tyler goes on to say that mission trips, such as the one he went on with the BSU, are enriching and edifying to all believers.

Students who attended the mission trip are in for a fulfilling time. Kyle Rosas, who is a graduate of BMC, currently has a church planting team in Phoenix. Students who go will have opportunities to help him, and they will also be able to participate in prayer walking and assisting refugees.

While the due date to apply for the trip was November 9th, Tracy Moser stated that if someone wants to participate, they will need to talk to her immediately. There is still a possibility they could be added to the team.

However, there are also opportunities in the summer. She stated that Summer Missions last 1-2 months depending on your placement. The upcoming due date is November 28. Opportunities and requirements can be found on http://www.mississippibsu.org/opportunities. There is also a short mission trip to Vancouver, Canada during May 9th-16th. Interviews will be in January and students must have a passport.
