Good Night and Joy Be with You All
“Of all the comrades that e’er I had Are sorry for my going away. And all the sweethearts that e’er I had Would wish me one more day to stay. But since it falls unto my lot That I should rise and you should not, I’ll gently rise and softly call ‘Good night and joy be with you all!’” As the last of the spring semester draws to an end, the educational journey at Blue Mountain College comes to a close for many of our students. May 4th marks the last day that many of our students

Hasta La Vista, Honea.
It is with mixed emotions that the students of BMC see Dr. Kendal Honea of the exercise science department off after many long years of service to this college. On the one hand, we will miss his enthusiasm, sarcasm, and dedication to his students. He has been a phenomenal teacher (and friend!) to students majoring in his field, and an inspiration to many outside of it, like myself. On the other hand, however, this is a blessing that has been a long time in coming, and we cann

A Night Under the Stars
This past Thursday night BMC held “A Night Under The Stars.” This was the spring formal and it was a blast. This formal was at Camp 106 in New Albany from 7:00 until 10:00 pm. The formal was exciting and there was a great selection of yummy food and deserts to keep your energy high and get you back on the dance floor. The food selection ranged from a taco and nacho bar to a warm chocolate fountain. The DJ really lit up the night with great energy and continuous music to keep

Trip of a Lifetime
Here’s a few questions for you: have you ever wanted to study abroad? Have you ever dreamt of traveling to a new country? Have you ever wished to experience a new culture first-hand? Then I have some good news for you. With the help of several members of the Blue Mountain College faculty spearheaded by Dr. Greg Long, the school has approved a fundraiser that will raise money for students of any major to receive the opportunity to travel to Ireland in the summer of 2020. 2019 Southern Literary Festival
This year, I was honored to be chosen as a second place winner at the Southern Literary Festival in the creative non-fiction category. The first thing I’d like to do is to thank the people who got me there. I know some people can relate directly with what I mean when I talk about looking at old writing, but everyone has something they are good at that they can see how bad they were starting out. That’s what it has been like for me, seeing how much I have improved since I firs

A Musical Celebration of Eternal Life
On the night of April 4, the Blue Mountain College Chorale presented their spring concert, which featured Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem. The hour-long concert also included works from many other composers. A wide variety of musical genres were represented, from Mozart and Handel’s classical pieces to William Dawson’s arrangement of spirituals, as well as several Scripture passages set to music. The concert also featured several special performers. A guest choir from Alcorn Central

The hard-working artists and writers who placed in the annual Mountain Breeze writing and art contest were honored on Thursday, April 11. That afternoon, the winners’ family and friends gathered in the Student Union Building to hear the writers read their works. The winning readers included Molly Woolworth, Caroline McClure, Kirsten McAfee, Mackenzie Hanks, Victoria Kinsey, Emily Blackwell, and Sarah Hill. To mention just a few of the winning pieces: the poetry division inclu

First Annual Modenian Alumni Tea Party
On April 13th, the Modenian society kicked off their new annual event, an alumni tea party. The SUB was decked out in roses and delicately patterned paper tea cups for this special event. Eight alumni were able to make it in spite of the inclement weather, as well as many of the current society members. The guest list included Anna Quinn, well known around campus for her involvement in various campus events, including the Mountain Breeze competition, and President McMillin, w

Pancakes and Pajamas
Blue Mountain College’s Women’s ministry group, Koinonia, met in the bottom of the BSU building for their second annual Pancakes in Pajamas event. The group gathered Thursday, April 11th, with an impressive pancake buffet - complete with traditional topping such as butter and syrup, as well as the wilder options of Nutella, sprinkles and whipped cream. To complete the relaxed environment, each young lady came comfortably clad in her favorite sleepwear, which typically include

Running Through "The Wall"
Tuesday afternoon, student athletes and academically minded attendees of BMC gathered in front of the cafeteria in a state of anticipation and perspiration; we were there for one purpose: to tackle “The Wall,” enduring the grueling 3.1 miles in order to show Dr. Honea the recognition and support he deserves. The sun had begun its lazy descent when Dr. Honea stood before the masses, bullhorn in hand. After explaining the daunting details of the course, Honea chuckled, “I name
