Unsung Heroes
When I was going to school, I knew how to read, write, add and subtract and I basically said, 'What else do I need? I'm never going to be able to go to college. I'm not going to be able to afford to go to college. I'm not going to be able to get a scholarship.' --Mark Wahlberg Colleges from all across the United States offer numerous scholarships so that their students can attend. Thousands of people around the world believe that they cannot afford college, so they simply ref

Back to the Future: BMC Edition
Fall break, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holidays: All of these and more coming soon to a campus near you! With the end of the spring term here at Blue Mountain College quickly approaching, students and faculty alike are looking to the fall semester to see what campus life will be like upon returning. Over the past few semesters, Blue Mountain College has seen a lot of changes. In the spring of 2020, schools and colleges across the nation basically shut down. Campuses everywhe

Seniors Wrapping Up
Senior projects are a very big deal at Blue Mountain College. Each major and department encourages some kind of farewell assignment that they feel reflects all of the student’s ideals that they have learned in their time at BMC. After years of learning and taking in information, students get the opportunity to show all they have learned and present it to the school as a senior project. I had the privilege of speaking to three of the students doing senior projects this spring

It's a Good Good Friday
Blue Mountain College Manages a Break Blue Mountain students were excited to finally receive a break over the Easter holidays. April 2nd, otherwise known as Good Friday, was the first official break the school has offered this semester since MLK Day in February. Though a series of inclement weather has provided quite a few virtual learning days, Good Friday was the first work-free holiday in weeks. Prior to the break, students were eagerly anticipating the time off. This seme

Easter Devotional
Philippians 3:10: "I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death." Easter is approaching quickly, and with the many joys that accompany that also comes the stresses of finals during the end of a COVID-filled school year. As students, it is easy for us to get sucked into the worries and struggles of the ending of the year and forget about the wonderful celebrations that we could be having. P

A Civil War Encounter at the Shiloh Battlefield
Dr. Bennett, a Blue Mountain College history teacher, took his U.S. Military History students on a field trip a few weeks back on March 9, 2021, to Shiloh National Battlefield in Shiloh, Tennessee. The field trip was from 8:00 A.M.- 6 P.M.. The students were well prepared, according to Bennett, as they had been studying the whole semester for the event. Each student had picked out a Civil War topic/event and researched it with a group in the class, each group made up of 3 peo

Senior Reflections
Another successful school year is drawing to a close, with less than 20 days left in the school calendar. Summer break is just around the corner and many students are impatiently awaiting its arrival. For some students, however, this release cannot come soon enough. Seniors are graduating this May, and this is their last chance for reflection before the inevitable end. I decided to reach out to a few of these seniors to get their opinions by asking three simple questions: 1)

Joke's on You
Past and Pranks of April Fool's Day April Fool’s Day, while not being a holiday that we get off school for, is a day that is celebrated and enjoyed by everyone around. Pranks pulled on friends, coworkers, and families are committed, and some people even treat it as a national holiday. While we celebrate it every year, it’s time for us to look into the past and find out how it came to be. Who started our prankster holiday, and why did it come along? When looking at the holiday
