OPINION: Santa: A Christian Notion
As Christmas draws near, my mind is bombarded, as always, with memories of Christmas’ past and those dearest of memories often include that jolly fellow, Santa Claus. In the house I grew up in, Santa had a deep impact on our lives. We baked cookies for him and left carrots for his reindeer; my siblings and I would write letters and our parents would pretend to mail them. It was magical! We knew the guy at the mall wasn’t the real Santa, because the real deal had a ton of pr

Harvest Festival Fun
The Monday night before Halloween was a very festive night here at Blue Mountain College. October 30th was the night of the college’s annual Harvest Festival. The festival was filled with many booths, games, and a very exciting costume contest. There were multiple booths set up all around the Sub for students as well as people from the public to enjoy. Booths were set up and run by societies and clubs such as, the Eunomians, the Bereans, the Apple Club, the Modenians, and Koi

Cook and James spent 52 days supervising sports camps for Upward Sports, Monda

Refreshed at Fall Retreat
BMC Students Fellowship at Weekend Retreat By the end of October, stress levels at BMC begin rising to new heights. Many students vanish within the depths of the library or their dorm rooms, hunched over computer screens or heavily highlighted textbooks. Nap activity among students increases exponentially. For years the BSU has provided an opportunity to relieve str

New Faculty Highlight: Dr. Mims
The Biblical Studies department has recently gained a new professor, Dr. Tim Mims. Many readers may already know him, either through his classes or by hearing him speak in chapel on occasion. Friendly and encouraging, Dr. Mims is a welcome addition to the BMC family. Dr. Mims attended college right here at Blue Mountain, and later went on to seminary to acquire a master’s and then a doctorate degree. When asked what advice he would give current students based on his own exper

Bonds of Brotherhood: Rush for Men’s Societies
The last issue of The Beacon included an article on the women’s societies rush. Now we turn our attention to the other half of the student body and the men’s societies. EK For their rush, the EK's hosted a game of Ultimate Frisbee and then held a party in Cockcroft with Buffalo Wild Wings and coffee punch. Students were invited to hang out and play video games until the crowd slowly dispersed. The President of the Ekklesian society, Jacob Riley, described the overall atmosphe
